Romania saw a 67.6% increase in electricity imports in the first five months of 2025, while domestic production fell by 9.5%.

In the first five months of 2025, Romania imported 7,800 million kWh of electricity, a significant increase of 67.6% compared to the same period in 2024. Domestic production decreased by 9.5% to 21,009 million kWh. Electricity exports also increased by 15.6% to 5,723 million kWh. Primary energy resources increased, but domestic production decreased by 4.7%. Final electricity consumption increased by 1.3%, with higher consumption by households.
