Defense Minister Ionuț Moșteanu has announced that Romania will become the first European country to acquire the Iron Dome air defense system, scheduled for 2025. This system, developed by Israel, will provide protection against missile threats and enhance the security of critical infrastructure. Military procurement accounts for almost 30% of the national defense budget. Moșteanu stressed the importance of the Black Sea region in the national defense strategy, which will include talks with Turkey. The Spyder system was selected following a tender, offering short- and medium-range missiles.
