During the NATO ministerial meeting, the Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruță, stated that allies conveyed a clear message of solidarity towards Romania and the security of the Black Sea region. Romania has brought to the Alliance's agenda the risks of using naval drones, in the context of the aggressive behavior of the Russian Federation. Miruță emphasized Romania's efforts in modernizing defense capabilities, including through the SAFE program, which aims to equip anti-drone systems.
He mentioned that Romania does not seek support before taking concrete steps to strengthen defense. He also requested temporary support until the delivery of equipment under SAFE. Allies indicated that they are analyzing additional contributions to strengthen the defense posture on the Eastern Flank. Miruță confirmed that Romania will be integrated into allied initiatives to enhance security and respond rapidly to emerging challenges. This reflects close collaboration with allies and Romania's status as a serious partner in NATO.
