The MONEYVAL report underlines that Romania has implemented measures to strengthen the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, but there are still moderate gaps in the application of international standards. The assessment shows that of the FATF's 40 recommendations, Romania is compliant on 7, largely compliant on 18 and partially compliant on 15. Enhanced monitoring will continue until May 2026, when Romania will have to report on progress.
