The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, stated that Romania has the option to activate Article 4 of the NATO Treaty, after three drones that illegally entered national airspace were shot down. She specified that any allied state can request the activation of this mechanism when it deems additional consultations within the Alliance necessary.

At the same time, the head of Romanian diplomacy said, "the summoning of the Russian ambassador to Bucharest is a measure of protest by Romania", used also after similar incidents, to clearly convey the responsibility of the Russian Federation and the firm position of the Romanian authorities.

Oana Țoiu pointed out that Romania is constantly collaborating with NATO allies to strengthen defense and deterrence capabilities on the eastern flank. In this context, she mentioned that Italy has sent four Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and 180 military personnel to Romania for air policing missions, and other allied states, such as the United Kingdom and Canada, continue to contribute to the security of Romania and the Black Sea region.

The statements were made after three drones that entered Romanian airspace were shot down.
