In an interview, Cosmin Marinescu, economist and professor, draws attention to the fact that Romania has reached the Excessive Deficit Procedure of 2019, underlining the underestimation of the deficit in that year's budget. He proposes a reform of the budget construction, based on realistic projections, in order to avoid major corrections and maintain credibility in the eyes of European partners. Marinescu identifies three challenges for 2025: the quality of the budget, the timing of the budget adjustment and the revised economic growth forecast.
