Romania imported 60 MW of energy on Thursday morning at 11:00, after reactor II at Cernavodă was completely disconnected from the National Energy System, according to data from monitorenergie.ro, writes Cotidianul.ro. On the other hand, real-time data from the energy system shows that, at this moment, according to Economica.net, even without nuclear energy, Romania is net exporting energy.
The disconnection of Unit 2 began at 7:00, and the plant was completely shut down around 11:00, resulting in a loss of approximately 680 MW.
Romania will rely on imports, especially from Bulgaria, and on hydro reserves to compensate for the deficit.
Additionally, reactor I at Cernavodă was disconnected at the end of July, accumulating a total loss of 1360 MW. The restart of the plant will only be possible after the Danube level rises, and the return of Unit 2 to the system would take between 24 and 48 hours, according to the plant's director, Romeo Urjan.
