The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, met on Wednesday with her Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, during the Bucharest 9 Format Summit. The discussions focused on economic cooperation, attracting Norwegian investments, and strengthening the security and defense dimension. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bilateral relations are excellent, with trade exchanges exceeding one billion euros in 2025, benefiting Romania.

Ţoiu emphasized Romania's interest in becoming an attractive destination for Norwegian companies, especially in areas such as the shipbuilding industry and energy transition. Additionally, they discussed the modernization of consular services and cooperation in the field of security, both parties reaffirming the importance of the bilateral relationship in a regional context. Eide highlighted Norway's support for Ukraine and the importance of regional cooperation in the face of current challenges. In the end, Memoranda of Understanding regarding the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms 2021–2028 were signed.
