The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, and Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, held a press conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels, highlighting the importance of Romania on the eastern flank of the Alliance. Rutte stated that NATO is prepared to defend every inch of its territory and mentioned Romania's essential role in missile defense systems.

"Romania is safe, we will defend every inch of allied territory," assured NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The meeting takes place ahead of the European Council meeting, where measures to strengthen security in the Black Sea region and enhance collective deterrence will be discussed. The transatlantic relationship will also be analyzed in the context of recent decisions for military cooperation with the USA, including the deployment of troops on Romanian territory. The President of Romania will reaffirm the country's commitment as an active ally within NATO.
