The Romanian authorities issued a RO-ALERT message on Wednesday morning for the population in the northern part of Tulcea County, following a drone attack launched by the Russian Federation on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the border with Romania.
The Ministry of National Defense announced that two F-16 aircraft from the air police service took off from the 86th Air Base Borcea, and the anti-aircraft systems were activated and put in firing position.
The RO-ALERT message was transmitted at 03:44, and radar systems monitored a group of 17 aerial objects that moved in the border area, without entering Romanian airspace.
The alert was lifted at 05:10, with no incidents reported on national territory.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the forces remain vigilant, continuing surveillance and coordination measures for the protection of the population and national territory.
