In an interview granted to DW, sociologist Remus Ștefureac discusses the effects of the victory of the Fidesz party in Hungary on the relationship between Romanians and ethnic Hungarians. He believes that the new government will have a significant influence on the policies applied to Hungarian communities in Romania, considering the two-thirds majority obtained in parliament. Ștefureac suggests that the change of power could lead to a reset of relations between Romania and Hungary, favoring cooperation in various fields. He also emphasizes the need for the Romanian state to treat all communities fairly, including through the allocation of funds for Hungarian communities. Additionally, he states that the perception of Romanians towards Hungarians could be positively influenced by limiting propaganda from Hungary.
