The Department for Emergency Situations has issued a RO-ALERT message for Bucharest, warning of a red code for heavy snowfall, valid between 18.02.2026, 4:20 - 8:20. Authorities recommend avoiding travel by car and using alternative routes. The sector municipalities have mobilized 378 machines and 2,750 operators to intervene on the main roads, prioritizing critical areas such as bridges and public transport stations.
Traffic is congested on the A3 and A7 highways due to adverse weather conditions, and restrictions have been imposed for vehicles with a total weight greater than 7.5 tons. The police recommend that drivers avoid non-essential travel, stay informed about road conditions, and follow the instructions of the police officers. Additionally, traffic is also affected on the A2 Bucharest - Constanța highway, with similar restrictions for heavy vehicles.
