Reactor 2 of the Cernavodă nuclear power plant was reconnected to the National Energy System on June 27, 2025, after being shut down in controlled mode on June 25 for further investigations. Nuclearelectrica assured that the work was carried out according to procedures, without affecting nuclear safety. The two CANDU reactors at Cernavodă contribute significantly to energy production in Romania, generating 18% of nuclear energy and 33% of CO2-free energy.
