Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations, announced that his lawyers have analyzed the case in which he is accused of complicity in smuggling related to the replacement of a helicopter that crashed in 2016 in the Republic of Moldova.
Arafat claims that the accusations ignore the official positions expressed by the General Directorate of Customs in 2021 and 2022, which confirm that there were no legal violations. He believes that the accusation is based on incorrect interpretations and that there is no clear evidence of harm. Arafat emphasizes that the compensation operation was carried out according to the law and that the financial expertise requested after the accusation raises suspicions about the grounds of the accusation. He also states that his indictment is exaggerated and that it should not take place until the situation is clarified. The Military Prosecutor's Office announced the prosecution of 17 individuals in this case, estimating a damage of over 4.4 million lei.
