Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), announced that the Military Prosecutor's Office has imposed a seizure of 8 million lei on his assets and those of 16 other individuals, including the accounts of the companies Airbus Romania and Omniasig.
Arafat criticized the prosecutors' decision, stating that the precautionary measures affect his property rights and reputation, and announced that he will contest this decision in court. He emphasized that the seizure was imposed without concrete justification and questioned the logic of the prosecutors' actions, considering that the compensation of 8 million lei stems from an aviation incident in 2016.
Arafat mentioned that the customs authority provided two contradictory responses regarding the obligation to pay VAT, generating institutional confusion. In this context, he called for accountability for those involved in discrediting him.
