Radu Miruță, the Minister of National Defense, stated that the statements of the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs do not represent military threats, but refer to legal and political aspects.

He emphasized that there is no additional risk for Romanians and that the presence of American troops in Romania contributes to deterring threats.

Miruță mentioned that the Shield at Deveselu protects Romania, including against possible attacks from Iran.

In this context, Iran warned Romania that it will react politically and legally if it allows its bases to be used by the USA for operations against Iran. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed that the country is not part of the conflict and that its priority is de-escalation of the situation.
