Spontaneous protest at the Mangalia Shipyard: Employees are protesting for unpaid salaries

Tens of employees of the Damen Mangalia shipyard are protesting on Thursday morning, unhappy that they have not received their salaries for over three months.

The last protest took place on February 27, when employees were already in their second month without pay. Laurențiu Gobeajă, president of the Free Naval Union, stated that the situation is critical, and employees are waiting for the approval of the guarantee fund to recover their money from AJFM. The shipyard has been in insolvency since 2024, and the government recently adopted an ordinance to extend salary protection for employees. Gobeajă emphasized that employees have worked without pay and have not received concrete answers from the Ministry of Economy, accusing the authorities of inaction in resolving salary issues.
