Hundreds of miners and energy workers gathered on Wednesday in front of the headquarters of the Oltenia Energy Complex in Târgu Jiu to protest against the decision to lay off 1,500 employees with fixed-term contracts.

The protest was announced on social media and led to the blocking of a street, which required the intervention of the police from the Traffic Brigade.

Participants, equipped with vuvuzelas, chanted "We fight and we win!" and called on the company's administration to reconsider the decision not to extend the work contracts, which will expire on April 1.

It is expected that other employees from the CE Oltenia units in Motru, Jilț, and Rovinari will join the protest.
