The protest of employees in the energy sector takes place in the context where 1,500 employees with fixed-term contracts risk losing their jobs starting April 1. Many of them have been working for over three years within the company. The National Trade Union Confederation Cartel ALFA believes that the situation is the result of poor management of the energy transition and emphasizes the concern that workers are resorting to extreme forms of protest to be heard.

Trade unionists claim that employees who have contributed to the energy stability of Romania risk remaining without jobs and social guarantees, on the eve of the Easter holidays. CNS Cartel ALFA calls on the Government and the Ministry of Energy to open an urgent dialogue with employee representatives to identify solutions to avoid a social crisis. Additionally, trade unionists mention that there are European funds and technical solutions available for modernizing the energy industry, but political will is needed to protect jobs.
