More civic organizations and activists protested in front of the Cotroceni Palace, demanding President Nicușor Dan to reject the proposals made by the Minister of Justice for the leadership of the major prosecutor's offices, on the grounds that some candidacies could affect the independence of the judiciary. The protesters asked the head of state not to sign the appointment decrees and to carefully analyze the proposals for the General Prosecutor's Office, DNA, and DIICOT.
The president came out to talk to the protesters and conveyed that he will take responsibility for the decisions regarding the appointments, emphasizing that he has more information than what has appeared in the public space. Nicușor Dan stated that he will sign the appointments he considers appropriate and that the results of these decisions will likely be evaluated in about six months.
