On November 24, 2025, the General Assembly of prosecutors at the Prosecutor's Office next to the Bucharest Court of Appeal voted against the Government's draft law aimed at amending the pensions of magistrates, requesting the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) to issue a negative opinion. This reaction came after the magistrates from the Bucharest Court of Appeal and the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal also rejected the legislative proposal. The project, co-initiated by the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Justice, provides for a reduction of the service pension amount from 80% to 55% of the average gross allowances from the last 60 months, with a cap of 70% of the last net allowance.

Additionally, the standard retirement age will be set at 65 years, with an extended transition over 15 years. Romania has until November 28 to resolve this issue, which is crucial for fulfilling the commitments of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
