Professor Dr. Bogdan Marinescu, a renowned specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, passed away on Thursday at the age of 81. The announcement was made by the College of Physicians in Bucharest, which highlighted his essential contribution to the development of reproductive medicine in Romania and the training of many generations of doctors.


Throughout his career of over four decades, Marinescu played a crucial role in advancing obstetrics and gynecology, being involved in achieving the first successes of in vitro fertilization in the country. The Giulești Maternity Hospital, which he led for nearly 30 years, became a national landmark under his guidance. Condolences came from his colleagues, who emphasized his impact on Romanian medicine and his dedication to patients.


Additionally, Marinescu served as the Minister of Health, contributing to the modernization of the Romanian medical system.
