Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the management scheme for the SAFE program was established and voted during the term of former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu. Bolojan emphasized that the acquisitions are not decided by a single person, but are based on supply plans approved by the Romanian Army, which have been validated by the CSAT.
He responded to accusations regarding the allocation of five billion euros to a company in Germany, stating that the decisions were made following procurement proposals formulated by the involved ministries. The Prime Minister mentioned that an essential condition of the negotiation was that at least 50% of the purchased goods should be produced in Romania, to ensure technology transfer and support the local industry. Bolojan emphasized the importance of developing production capacities in Romania, including through the state company Romarm, to meet the country's defense needs.
