In a landmark decision, a court in Romania issued a protection order exclusively for psychological and social violence, addressed to a child who had been kept away from his father for 6 years and a half. Although there were previous court rulings recognizing psychological abuse and parental alienation, measures had not been implemented until now.
The order requires the mother to maintain distance from the child and to wear an electronic monitoring device, extending to the maternal family involved in the alienation. The court emphasized that parental alienation represents a serious form of psychological violence, without the need for physical evidence. Deputy Alina Gorghiu made the case public, highlighting the devastating emotional impact of the abuse on the child and the importance of his protection. This decision marks an important step in recognizing and combating psychological violence in the family context.
