The National Administration Apele Române announced on Wednesday, February 4, that the Danube water has been polluted with petroleum products in the Giurgiu area, following the sinking of a pump. The identified pollutants include fuel and oil, and the incident was reported by the National Environmental Guard around noon.
Teams from the Water Quality Laboratory (LCA) Giurgiu, together with specialists from the Basin Water Inspection (IBA), will collect water samples from several points for detailed analysis. Apele Române stated that they are ready to intervene with specific equipment and materials to limit and remove the pollution, thus ensuring the protection of the aquatic environment.
