Local authorities and the Border Police of Teleorman notified of an incident associated with the sinking of a vessel in the Danube River on Thursday, around 10:15 AM.
The first observations made by the Romanian Waters revealed the presence of some iridescence on the water's surface, without noting a continuous film of pollutant. The incident occurred near the barge involved, and as a precautionary measure, the regional operator SC APA SERV SA Teleorman decided to stop the water supply to the municipality of Turnu Măgurele, considering that the water source comes from the Danube. Teams from the Teleorman Water Management System are already on the ground to monitor the evolution of the phenomenon, and an intervention team consisting of 7-8 people has been mobilized with specific materials to limit the effects of pollution.
Specialists from the National Administration 'Romanian Waters' are collaborating with the competent authorities to monitor the situation.
