Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan discussed a package of fiscal measures aimed at correcting the budget deficit of over 9% of GDP and improving the country's economic situation. The proposed measures include reorganization of VAT, higher excise duties on alcohol and fuel, expansion of the CASS taxpayer base, and an increase in the tax on dividends. Bolojan stressed the importance of these measures to avoid a severe economic crisis. The Parliament will debate and vote on the package, and the opposition, in particular the AUR Party, has announced its intention to table a no-confidence motion.
