Volodymyr Zelensky announced direct peace negotiations with Russia, in a trilateral format with the USA.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a trilateral meeting between officials from the USA, Ukraine, and Russia, scheduled in the United Arab Emirates, starting Friday.

This is the first meeting of this kind since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, which started on February 24, 2022.

Although there were previous negotiations in 2022, they did not yield significant results.

Zelensky emphasized that the documents for ending the war are nearly ready and that American and Ukrainian teams are constantly working to put an end to the conflict.

Donald Trump stated that the war must stop and that a special envoy will go to Moscow for discussions. Zelensky described the meeting with Trump as positive but mentioned that the final stage towards peace is always difficult.
