On November 29, 2025, the Orthodox Church celebrates Saint Martyr Paramon, who lived in the 3rd century during the reign of the Roman Emperor Decius. Paramon was martyred for his refusal to worship the god Poseidon, along with 370 other Christians who were killed by the voivode Achilin. During their suffering, Paramon cried out against injustice, which led to his condemnation to death. He endured severe tortures, including the piercing of his tongue and body with spears. Along with his commemoration, other saints are also remembered on this day, such as Philumen, Nicholas, John of Persia, and Valerian. Additionally, during the Christmas Fast, Saturdays allow for the breaking of the fast with fish and wine, except for the last days of the fast.
