Nicuşor Dan sent a delegation to the USA to discuss with American officials about the incidents involving Russian drones in Romania and the security of the Black Sea.

President Nicușor Dan has appointed his national security advisor, Marius Lazurca, and the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, to travel to the United States. The purpose of the visit is to discuss with members of the Trump administration and Congress about recent incidents involving Russian drones in Romanian airspace and about security in the Black Sea region.

Marius Lazurca emphasized the importance of the security partnership with the USA, mentioning that Romanian pilots have shot down three Russian drones in recent days. These incidents led to the summoning of the Russian ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where evidence of illegal activities was presented. The Romanian delegation also proposes to strengthen alignment in the field of security and to highlight cooperation with the United States.
