The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, is in Cyprus to participate in the informal meeting of the European Council, where he discusses essential topics for citizens, including the impact of developments in the Middle East on energy security. Dan highlighted that Romania can achieve prosperity and security only within a strong European Union, which requires new resources for the future EU budget.

He emphasized cohesion as a fundamental pillar of the Union, necessary for solidarity, but also stressed the importance of investments in competitiveness, security, the Common Agricultural Policy, connectivity, and innovation. The President mentioned that the Union must have sufficient own resources to meet its objectives, and the 'One Europe, one market' roadmap will be signed during the meeting, marking an important step towards European competitiveness.
