President Nicușor Dan explained that the drone that crashed on a building in Galați changed its trajectory, probably after being hit above the Ukrainian city of Reni. In a press statement, he specified that a group of 43 drones crossed Ukraine, and some of them were shot down.

The drone that fell in Galați was damaged and deviated towards Romania. Following the incident, which occurred on the night from Thursday to Friday, two people were injured, and a woman and a 14-year-old child suffered burns and were hospitalized.

Nicușor Dan visited the victims and stated that they are in good mental condition. The incident has been classified as the most serious security incident on Romanian territory since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, and the president discussed the situation with the NATO Secretary General, also announcing the closure of the Russian Consulate in Constanța.
