According to data from the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers (APIA), new car registrations in Romania decreased by 33% in January 2026 compared to the same month in 2025. Electrified cars saw a decrease of 13%, with a total of 5,615 units registered. Among these, pure electric cars recorded a decrease of 14%, while plug-in hybrid cars increased by 49%. APIA also published a ranking of registered car brands, with Dacia in first place (1,442 units), followed by Toyota (756), Skoda (690), Volkswagen (646), and Mercedes-Benz (397). In total, 7,882 cars were registered.
