This visit takes place in a sensitive context for regional security, marked by the United States' decision to resize its military presence in Romania and on NATO's eastern flank. The Ministry of National Defense has confirmed that some of the American troops deployed in Europe, including those at Mihail Kogălniceanu, will conclude their rotations as part of the reassessment of the global posture of U.S. forces. However, approximately one thousand American soldiers will remain in Romania, ensuring the United States' strategic commitment to regional security.
