A NATO official stated that the authorities within the alliance and the American ones are closely collaborating regarding the deployment of forces, after the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced that allies have been informed about the U.S. plans to reduce the number of troops stationed on the eastern flank of Europe. The official emphasized that adjustments in the deployment of American forces are not unusual and that, despite this reduction, the U.S. military presence in Europe remains larger than in previous years. Romania has been notified about this decision, which also includes forces deployed at the Mihail Kogălniceanu base, however, approximately one thousand American soldiers will continue to remain in the country.
