This measure is part of the restructuring plan of the Oltenia Energy Complex, which involves the closure of certain mining quarries and the reduction of expenses. Union representatives emphasize that Minprest employees are not responsible for the created situation and believe that the layoffs are the result of poor management. The union has proposed solutions to reduce the social impact of the layoffs, but these have been ignored. The director of AJOFM Gorj, Romeo Chiriac, explained that the layoffs are related to the discontinuation of certain services provided by Minprest starting in 2026. In total, Minprest has 1,003 employees, and by 2026, the layoff of 170 people is anticipated. The union has warned that it will organize protests and will notify the authorities, emphasizing that employees will not accept becoming 'silent victims' of the restructuring.
