Minister Florin Manole announced on Facebook that measures are being taken to combat abuses in authorized protected units, which benefit from tax facilities. He stated that the National Agency for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities did not have the necessary capacity for verification, having only one person in the Control Body to oversee 950,000 beneficiaries. Manole highlighted the gaps in the current system, mentioning that there are no field checks before the authorization of protected units, which allows for abuses.

Additionally, authorizations are granted for a specific location, but activities can be carried out in other uncontrolled locations. The minister emphasized the need to correct the system, stating that it must be people-centered, not profit-centered. Protected units are entities that employ persons with disabilities, according to current legislation.
