Interim Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu announced that, 20 days before the deadline set by law, 919 out of the 3,187 municipalities in Romania are still not registered on the Ghiseul.ro platform.
Oana Gheorghiu emphasized that the lack of registration affects "millions of Romanians," forcing them to travel to municipalities for services that could be provided online. According to her, over 2.5 million citizens do not benefit from the advantages of digitalization due to this situation.
All unregistered municipalities have received official notifications, and the Deputy Prime Minister reminded that the deadline is August 25.
Local authorities that do not comply with this obligation risk suspension of funding from the state budget.
Gheorghiu highlighted the importance of digitalization for the efficiency and transparency of public administration, concluding that "Romania urgently needs administrative reform."
