Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of the Capital, expressed his concern regarding the financial state of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB), stating that things are almost out of control. In a meeting with drivers and conductors, he denied rumors about salary cuts, emphasizing that the STB budget is 1.7 billion lei, similar to the budget of the city of Brașov. The mayor requested an audit to assess how the money is being spent, but his initiative was rejected by the General Council.

Ciucu mentioned that the financial difficulties are the result of wrong decisions from the past, which led to excessive hiring and stagnation of salaries. He emphasized that his goal is to save the company and protect jobs, demanding that the STB management create a cost optimization plan. The mayor warned that measures need to be implemented quickly to avoid the collapse of the public transport service.
