The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced a detailed control regarding the allocation of affordable housing from the Real Estate Fund Administration, emphasizing that until now there have been no clear criteria for granting them. In the context of a meeting of the General Council of the Capital, which did not take place due to lack of quorum, Ciucu highlighted the need to index rents to bring in an annual income of 500 million lei, essential for the precarious financial situation of the municipality. He mentioned that in the last 20 years rents have not been adjusted, and the usual funds could be used for investments in Bucharest.

Additionally, the mayor emphasized the importance of conducting external audits at STB and Termoenergetica, mentioning the discrepancies between the audit reports and the reality observed on the ground. The project for renting affordable housing provided for an increase in the base rate to 8 lei/sqm, depending on the area in which the housing is located.
