The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, will request a plan to reduce expenses at STB, considering the annual costs of 1.8 billion lei.

Ciprian Ciucu announced that he will investigate the high costs of public transport in Bucharest, which amount to 1.8 billion lei per year. He asked the management of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) to present a clear plan for reducing expenses by next Monday. If the plan is viable, Ciucu intends to submit it for approval to the General Council and the Government, discussing it also with the unions. The mayor emphasized that there will be no further discussions about increasing fares until this plan is adopted. He also mentioned the need for transparency in STB's activities and avoided discussions about eliminating free services, ensuring at the same time the protection of vulnerable groups. Ciucu requested an evaluation of STB's activities, considering that the previous audit project was rejected by the majority of councilors.
