The miners from Târgu Jiu continue protests against the layoffs prepared by the Oltenia Energy Complex (CEO), with hundreds of employees taking to the streets on the third day of demonstrations. They are demanding the resignation of the management and the Supervisory Board, accusing the management of retaining older employees and laying off younger ones with potential. Approximately 1,500 employees are set to be laid off in two stages, on April 1 and May 1. The protesters brought funeral wreaths and candles to symbolize the closure of the company.

Union leaders sent a message of despair and concern for the future of jobs, calling for fair measures and the activation of pension law provisions. Additionally, the miners organized marches through the town and protested in Bucharest, where they went on a hunger strike. The CEO management announced a personnel analysis following the protests.
