The Greek authorities have confirmed that the attack on the cargo ship Maran Homer, operated by Maran Tankers Management, did not cause any casualties. The incident occurred near Russian territorial waters while the ship was waiting for instructions to head towards the Caspian Pipeline Consortium oil terminal in Novorossiisk, where it was to pick up Kazakh oil.
The company stated that the ship only suffered minor material damage to the deck and equipment, without carrying cargo at that time. Additionally, the Greek Ministry of Maritime Affairs confirmed that the 24 crew members, consisting of 10 Greeks, 13 Filipinos, and one Romanian, are in good condition. The ship has already left Novorossiisk, and the incident had no impact on the environment.
