Manfred Weber condemned the violation of Romania's airspace by Russian drones: "The security of Romanians is the security of Europeans."

The European leader Manfred Weber firmly condemned the violation of Romanian airspace by Russian drones, reaffirming the importance of national security for all of Europe.

In a message of solidarity, Weber stated that "the security of Romanians is the security of Europeans," thus highlighting the interconnectedness among member states. He also praised Romania's swift response, which shot down the intruding drones, thereby demonstrating its commitment to defending national sovereignty.

"In this context, it is essential to accelerate European instruments for strengthening defense capabilities, including through the rapid implementation of the SAFE initiative, so that Romania and all of Europe are better prepared to respond to such threats,” Weber stated.

Weber announced his support for Prime Minister Bolojan, emphasizing that the European Union will continue to support Romania in the face of security challenges:

"I fully support the efforts of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for strengthening the European support given to Romania and for the rapid adoption of necessary measures to enhance security at the eastern border of the European Union.”
