A man was detained for 24 hours after he assaulted two SMURD paramedics in an ambulance, causing them injuries.

The prosecutors in Baia Mare have detained a man for 24 hours, accused of committing two offenses of assault. The incident occurred on May 1, 2026, around 10:30 PM, in the locality of Mireșu Mare, inside the SMURD ambulance.

The man punched two paramedics from the Maramureș Emergency Situations Inspectorate, causing them injuries. One of the paramedics, a sergeant major, suffered injuries that require 12-14 days of medical care, while the other needed 2-3 days for recovery. The prosecutors emphasize the seriousness of these acts, considering that the paramedics were performing their duties.
