Kosovo has become an associate member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, an important link between the Alliance and the parliaments of its member states.

After Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, Kosovo's authorities demanded early NATO membership. The move was criticized by Serbia, which does not recognize Kosovo's independence. The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is a separate institutional body from the alliance, and associate membership will strengthen Kosovo-NATO ties.
