IGSU declared that multi-role vessels did not intervene in the fire on the oil tanker Gas Lisbon due to the risk of explosions, the priority being the rescue of the crew.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) explained that multi-role vessels were not sent to intervene in the fire on the tanker Gas Lisbon because the ship was carrying a large amount of propane, which posed major explosion risks.

The authorities' priority was to rescue the crew, who were safely evacuated, and three sailors were injured and transported to the hospital. IGSU emphasized that the intervention would not have been justified from a safety perspective, considering that there was no imminent danger to the population. Additionally, the multi-role vessel is currently in a training period, and holding the position of commander requires specific experience. Currently, the FI-FI vessel has begun its first sea tests, and the ISU Constanța staff has participated in training programs in the field of maritime fire intervention. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and a new aerial reconnaissance mission is planned.
