Mayor Mihai Chirica announced that Iași received the 'Golden Apple' Trophy from FIJET, the ceremony taking place on June 20.

Mayor Mihai Chirica announced, during a press conference, that the municipality of Iași has been awarded the 'Golden Apple' Trophy by the International Federation of Journalists and Writers of Tourism (FIJET) for the 2026 edition. The award ceremony will take place on June 20, at 5:00 PM, in the Voievozilor Hall of the Palace of Culture in Iași, in the presence of the FIJET leadership.

The trophy is considered the equivalent of the Oscar award in the field of tourism and recognizes the city's efforts in promoting local tourism. Mihai Chirica emphasized that this distinction will contribute to promoting Iași as a reference tourist destination. Since its establishment in 1970, FIJET has awarded 73 'Golden Apple' trophies, including six destinations from Romania. FIJET, founded in 1954, is one of the oldest media associations in the world, with over 30 affiliated national associations, including FIJET Romania.
