The draft government decision to allocate a protocol residence to Traian Basescu was not approved at Friday's meeting, without giving reasons. This was to be an official residence, according to a CCR decision restoring his rights as a former president, after he was deprived of them in 2022 because of his collaboration with the Securitate. Băsescu had previously lost the benefits granted to former presidents, including the protocol residence.
