From August 1, 2025, tax rates on gambling winnings will be increased under new tax and budget measures.

Starting August 1, 2025, tax rates for gambling income will increase, according to Law 141/2025. Thus, winnings of up to 10,000 lei will be taxed at 4%, and those between 10,000 and 66,750 lei at 400 lei plus 20% of the surplus. Earnings over 66,750 lei will be taxed at 11,750 lei plus 40% of the surplus. These changes are intended to reduce the budget deficit.
