Starting August 1, 2025, tax rates for gambling income will increase, according to Law 141/2025. Thus, winnings of up to 10,000 lei will be taxed at 4%, and those between 10,000 and 66,750 lei at 400 lei plus 20% of the surplus. Earnings over 66,750 lei will be taxed at 11,750 lei plus 40% of the surplus. These changes are intended to reduce the budget deficit.
